At Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital, we hold ourselves to exceptionally high standards of veterinary care.
Our goal is for your cat and dog to stay healthy through preventative care. This means we’ll do everything we can to keep your pets healthy, from better nutrition suggestions to regular dental cleanings.
Of course, we’re here for you if your pet gets sick. We offer a full range of diagnostics and treatment options, and we always aim to minimize stress while maximizing comfort and uncompromising care. We’re here for emergencies during normal business hours.
For more than 55 years, our clinic has remained privately owned and independently operated, giving us full control over how we practice medicine. Our approach is to practice the highest level of medicine to offer your pet the best care. All in a warm and compassionate environment.
Our History
Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital has been locally owned since October 26th, 1970, when Dr. James Hughes opened the doors for the first time.
He purchased an on old tile shop on what used to be the outskirts of Austin and as he says, “I waited for the city to come to me.” And it did.
Dr. Hughes and his sons built the addition that is now our kennel building and his children grew up around the hospital, just as Dr. Benaryeh’s children have.
Dr. Hughes sold the hospital to Dr. Benaryeh in January of 2005 and the two have remained friends since – a reflection of the trust, continuity, and community values that still define our practice.
